The gameplay of BATTLEGROUNDS is arranged in a variety of game modes.

Gamemodes

Each game mode (Solo, Duo, Squad, etc) will be matched independently (For example, Duos cannot be matched with Solo queue). For these game modes, they consist of 1st person only & 3rd person (w/ 1st person optional) servers.

Ranked

Throughout Early Access, players are being put in a ELO ranked category with other players in that score category. You play ranked to raise up within the leaderboards to see who has the highest total ELO, concurrent wins in a session and/or the highest kills during a match.

For questions regarding ranked servers, head to the FAQ.

Unranked

As of now, unranked is not in the current build, it's coming at a later date. Unranked are mostly for players who want to learn the game or fool around without losing your ELO ranking in ranked servers.

Current modes

Solo

The classic game mode. Complete free for all, kill everyone, be the last one alive.

Solo, a game mode where you spawn into the world alone and you just rely on your own tactics and skill to push you to the end and be the last player alive.

Solo FPP (First Person Perspective)

Solo FPP is based around your normal Solo game mode (as read above), but instead of being in 3rd person this is strictly in 1st person.

Note: Currently Solo FPP is only available in (4/7) regions; NA, EU, AS & KR/JP

Note: Solo FPP is not available in regions; OC, SA & SEA

Duo

For this game mode, you will be paired up with another individual and will compete to be the last ones alive.

Duo FPP (First Person Perspective)

Duo FPP is based around your normal Duo game mode (as read above), but instead of being in 3rd person this is strictly in 1st person.

Note: Currently Duo FPP is only available in (5/7) regions; NA, EU, AS, KR/JP & OC

Note: Duo FPP is not available in regions; SA & SEA

Squad

Squad is a gameplay type where players are organized into teams which are then pitted against each other. This is distinct from the classic Free For All (FFA) gameplay mode, where players are free to kill whomever they wish.

SQUAD, a game mode where you can team up in groups of 2, 3 or 4 players, or if you prefer, you can still play solo and take on everyone alone in the match.

Note: No matter the size of your party when you enter a match, you'll be matched with teams of 4.

Game Mode Group Play

Squad FPP (First Person Perspective)

Squad FPP is based around your normal Squad game mode (as read above), but instead of being in 3rd person this is strictly in 1st person.

Note: All (7/7) server regions have SQUAD FPP.

Zombies

A user created game mode that got announced at the E3 Twitch stage of 2017. It's currently in work in progress (since PUBG Corp still haven't added in the zombie mocap animations yet) official game mode with player controlled zombies that also have custom zombie mocap animations and zombie outfits.

Zombies can't pick up weapons, they have to rely on biting or hitting the survivors.

Possible future modes

5 vs 5

In an interview, they stated that this game mode was a 'possibility' that it was coming. The game mode takes place on a smaller portion of the map where two 5 player teams battle it out.

ETA: N/A - Coming Soon? | This game mode is a possibility to have.

Note: Since it's an unofficial gamemode, Bluehole at any point can scrap this for another game mode.

Street Fight

Street Fight, a game mode from ARMA 3 BR which is based in cities and it’s just with pistols and SMG's, with air drops containing assault rifles. You can take more damage, and it’s just a little more brutal and close quarters than Battle Royale.

ETA: N/A - Coming Soon? | This game mode is a possibility to have.[1]

Note: Since it's an unofficial gamemode, Bluehole at any point can scrap this for another game mode.

War

War, a game mode from ARMA 3 BR that has a deathmatch style where players kill each other for 30 minutes (if you die, you respawn back in with a parachute) and then at the end once the blue zone locks in, you can't respawn anymore. After the blue zone locks, it will end normally in a BR ending with the circles, bombing runs and air drops.

ETA: N/A - Coming Soon | This game mode isn't on high priority to release (probably after Early Access). PLAYERUNKNOWN stated in interviews that this is a game mode he wants to implement into PUBG.[2][3][4]
